I went to the Gotham TV Awards
and I got pretty drunk
Last week I attended the Gotham TV Awards at Cipriani’s off Wall Street and it was a star studded evening that I had a lot of wine at.
I understand now how people become shitfaced at awards shows. You’re sitting there for A VERY LONG TIME. I couldn’t fit my sketchbook in my handbag for the evening so I cut up strips of paper to shove in there in case I felt like doodling which, of course I did.
As you can see the drawings started off coherent but quickly they take a turn with the sauvignon blanc being poured into my mouth. Like this was supposed to be Jenny Slate?? It is very NOT JENNY SLATE. I must apologize now to JENNY SLATE!
I thought about redrawing this stuff for you guys but decided it was much funnier for you to see all my fuck ups and SASS.
Somehow I pulled it together to draw Parker Posey as she received her Legend award. I’m relieved for my own dignity!! It was a wild ass evening, I made a lil reel about it on tiktok if you wanna hear more. At one point some vaguely famous guy started to chat me up until he realized I was not of importance and he quickly ended the conversation. I drunk dialed a LOT OF PEOPLE outside a McDonalds after, it was great.
