I’ve been in a serious relationship with Snoopy since I was five years old.
This sketch, addressed to my mother and her late sister, hung in the hallway outside my bedroom for as long as I can remember. My grandfather Dr. Daniel Vaughan was golfing buddies with Charles Schulz, who would have been 100 years old over Thanksgiving weekend. Schulz or Sparky to those who knew him spent a lot of time at my mother’s childhood home, so I’m told. He was very serious about his golf game with my grandpa but was also very generous about giving art to all of the children in the Vaughan family. We are fortunate to have plenty of pieces still floating around the house, some even directly about my grandpa - the ophthalmologist from San Jose.
