I am FLIPPIN excited to finally share with you the project I’ve been ticking away at for the past several months. Not that it’s like done or anything (it’s far from done ok!!!) but it’s all I’ve been thinking about! It’s..
The Joy of Snacking
This book has been sitting in my mind ever since I drew an essay called “I’m Not A Foodie, But I’m Not A Bad Person” for Electric Literature a couple summers ago. This is one of my favorite panels:
I’ve had a strange relationship with food (like many people) since I was a kid, so I’ve decided to write about it! It’s been really fun to focus on a book so completely different than Murder Book, there’s a lot more about my father (who is a great cook) and trying to understand all my own strange habits, as well as societal pressures put on female bodies and… well I could go on, but that’s why I’m writing a book on it!
Here’s some real profound insight into my process…
But here’s the thing, I also want to hear from you!
What do you think of snacks? Do you have any strange favorite snack creations? Any personal story that comes up when you think of snacks? Please share your thoughts with me! I’ve created this fun little form to collect stories. Can’t wait to hear from you!
PS I drew this in my notebook so many years ago, long before I knew it would be a book! Isn’t that wild!
And even more news! I’m also in the works of creating a guided journal, titled WHAT DID I DO TODAY? A question I am often asking myself. I am a big fan of lists, as you are probably aware of if you’re reading this newsletter. They’re such a great way to quickly keep track of funny, interesting, random things, especially if you’re a writer. It’s easy to go back and look at your ideas, and decide what’s worth expanding on. Also makes you feel VERY productive.
What Did I Do Today? A Journal for Stuff You've Already Accomplished will be a guided journal filled with prompts about list making, keeping track of funny conversations, drawing seen scenes, and more. Obviously there will also be stickers. It will be available in the next year so stay tuned!
Announcements in the trades are always so thrilling, little boxes of text that mean so much to the writer, and so little to everyone else in the world.
None of this would be possible without my favorite people, my agent Michelle Brower, and my editor Allison Adler!!! I love my ladies!!!!!
