Tonight we watch an absolute classic which I assume most of you have already seen, but I don’t care! It’s always great to rewatch Hitchcock’s Dial M for Murder!!
This is Hitchock’s first film with Grace Kelly and while it’s not typically described as a film noir, I think it oughtta be! It’s a film adaptation of a famous play from 1952 written by James P. Sherwood in London, brought to the silver screen two years later in 1954. It’s truly one of my favorite films of all time and I’m interested to hear why you think it should, or shouldn’t be considered noir!
Where to watch:
You can find Dial M for Murder for free on Tubi, NYAD TV, and the Kanopy App. On your computer, you can also find it on archive.org or you can rent it on most streaming services. If you’re like me, your mom has the DVD.
Come back to discuss!
I’ll start a Subscribers only chat thread tonight at 8 PM EST to discuss the film. Join the conversation whenever is convenient for you. I often think about the montage of Grace Kelly being in shock, I can relate!!
As always, the list of films is free but if you want to participate in community discussion of the films, that will be for paid subscribers only! Please do consider becoming a paid subscriber, because it’s the holidays and it makes me feel special.
