Happy Friday to those who celebrate!
I’ve been thinking about the tons and tons of silly gag cartoons I’ve drawn over all the years and how when they’re not published, I hide them away in my files. I realized last week, I have no clue what I’m hiding them for. My death? A posthumous collection?! How chic of me!
So I decided to start another thing on here to add to my sketchbook dumps, diary comics, dailies and poetry. Rejected Toons!!! Number 1!! I’ll be sharing 5 of these lil guys probably like once a month I don’t know don’t hold me to it!!!!
As always, if you become a paid subscriber, you’re literally keeping me alive.
This is a real recent reject based off of some wonderful interactions in the comedy world.
This is a reeeaaaal old one that Bob Mankoff told me was actually a Woody Allen joke so I felt dumb.
I submitted this next one to The New Yorker about a million times because I thought it was so good but alas NOPE!
Ok this one is what people call “dark.” I also don’t use flats like this anymore (coloring) so it’s funny for me to look at.
And finally here’s one my editor said she liked but due to children literally being held in cages at the border that year, she feared people would get upset. I once again felt dumb.
Thank you for reading! New posts every Friday!
