This week Substack invited me and many other wonderful writers to a night with famed advice columnist E. Jean Carroll and it was obviously fabulous!!
Wine, books, conversation! What more can a girl ask for?
Sitting there listening to E. Jean talk reminded me how much I miss doing my series Scenes I’ve Seen In New York Lately. I started it when I was running around the city every day, bouncing between cartoons and doing standup and I saw so many hilarious things on a daily basis, that I needed to start documenting them! I drew five scenes a week and it was such a fun assignment to give myself that made me feel so connected to New York. Unfortunately, for obvious reasons (2020 and beyond), I just don’t see as many scenes anymore. Even though we’re creeping out of covid, my life has changed. I have a dog! I’m working on another book! I don’t do standup as often! There’s quite simply, less scenery that isn’t at a dog park or my office. Does that mean I’m an adult??? Tragique!
So in my wallowing and self pity, I wanted to share a few old Seen Scenes with you, some of my favorites to brighten your Friday…
Do you have any favorite scenes of New York that stick out in your memory? I’d love to hear about them!
Thank you for reading! New posts every Friday!

I was in town, with a group of people from Virginia, to spend the day seeing plays. As a prank we stood on a street corner and looked up at the sky, pointing and saying “Look at that!” None of the people passing by were phased. We finally decided to move on and one of us said “We didn’t get anyone to look.” A man behind us at his candy stall said, “You got one!”🥰
