Welp, you heard it here first people. I’m starting a podcast. I am so embarrassed to be this late to the game.
Shame aside, I am so excited about What’d You Do This Weekend? We’ll be releasing the first three episodes next week and I cannot wait for you to listen! You’d be doing me a HUGE FAVOR if you would subscribe on Apple or Spotify (we’ll be on Stitcher soon, still waiting on their approval!) . Plus! Follow us on IG @thisweekendpod. Here’s some sketches from when I was trying to figure out what our cover art should be…
I guess no one will be surprised that I am hosting a podcast where I talk about the tiny details of people’s days. I live for this stuff. Schedules, run-ins, preferences, what you saw and what you heard and anything that made you laugh. It’s all we’ve got, right? Derek and I are already having a blast taking notes on the weekend to talk about on Monday. Like really serious and interesting stuff like.. “I feel like I keep only losing the hair tie on my right braid and it seems like a conspiracy” and “made brownies and licked the bowl.” It’s riveting, right? I’m nothing if not relatable!
I do really miss doing Seen Scenes though. Here’s several Seen Scenes as of late. I’m hoping this summer I’ll be able to fully revive this series!
As the sun comes out and shines it’s glorious vitamin D on us, I wonder about cash flow. I love when a company says they’re having a cash flow problem. They have cash, but it’s rigid, it’s hard, it refuses to flow, it doesn’t want to dance because it’s got no rhythm. I think all cartoonists have cash flow problems, because the cash doesn’t want to come to us, it wants to go to people in tech. And yet, I still love to spend money. How is it possible?! How could it be! Whenever I look at my bank account, I think of the scene in Breakfast at Tiffany’s when her friend reads from her checkbook and says how sad of a story it is… powder room, $50… cat food, $2. (I can’t remember the actual dialogue and for some reason Google refuses to help me right now).
Ever since I went to Florida (where I spent so much money) for the first time, this is how I feel…
If you want to read about my trip, become a paid subscriber and you’ll have access to my diary comics, which have a lot more story in them than a sketchbook page like this… or maybe not?
I’ve been a real busy body lately, jumping between lots of projects that I hope I’ll get to share with you soon. But to be clear, I’ve also been watching a disturbing amount of Survivor so don’t feel like “wow I wish I worked as hard as Hilary” because I’m pretty sure everyone I know does more than me in any given day.
Finally, a recent list:
Thank you for reading! New posts every Friday!
Song stuck in my head: Traveling Wilbury’s “End of the Line”
Obsessed with: The Mike White season of Survivor
