Sketches from the 43rd annual Mermaid Parade in Coney Island
This was my first year dancing with my team The Tail Shakers in Coney Island’s Mermaid Parade and OBVIOUSLY it was one of the best days of my life!! I’m currently away at a writers’ retreat so I’m going to keep the text to a minimum and share my doodles from the day! Only thing not noted here is when, after the parade, I was walking down the boardwalk in my skirt and pasties and some stranger yelled, “HILARY! I LOVE YOUR CARTOONS!” And I yelled back, “THANK YOU!” To be recognized without a top on… good or bad?!
