I assume the reason you are here is because you know who I am. Or at least you think you know who I am, because I post way too personal of work on the internet and it’s allowed you to form a very specific and intimate image of me. And then you saw me on the street and were like, “I’m sorry about the breakup” and I was like “How the fuck do you do know that?” And then I remembered and said, “Ah yes, I told everyone on Instagram, didn’t I? I must stop doing things like that.”
Anyway, you’re here! Welcome! I have begun this substackian journey because I am truly fed up with shminstagram. My work has become oddly hard to find on there due to mr. algorithm and I decided I don’t want to be so dependent on an app that can dictate my future. After reading this post from my colleague Jason Chatfield about cartoonists being shadowbanned for their satirical work, I had a small meltdown on 5th Ave (jk I live in Brooklyn) and decided I needed to take my audience and my future into my own hands! Literally! Let me hold you!
So while I will not be fully deleting my instagram (I’m way too afraid to), I decided to start a newsletter here, where I will be putting the bulk of my work. I hope you will join me, as I love attention and spend way too much time alone in my office wondering if my latest thought was funny enough to share (it always is lol).
Part of this newsletter will be free, but I will be adding a paid subscription level soon. I’ll be sharing all the kinds of work I normally do — gags, sketchbook work, long form diary comics, previews of larger projects I’m working on, and whatever the hell else comes to mind (my dog).
